ABOUT THE RANOS ONE
The RANOS ONE is a fully wireless, solar-capable outdoor sound level meter designed for permanent or temporary noise monitoring. It operates autonomously without wired power or data connections and communicates via LoRaWAN. Measurement accuracy complies with IEC 61672-1:2014 Class 1 and has been validated by an accredited laboratory according to IEC 61672-3:2013.

Traffic noise assessment
Construction site monitoring
Event noise control
Environmental and nature reserve monitoring
Workplace noise monitoring
Noise complaint verification
The system is particularly suitable for locations without grid power, though wired power options are also supported.
It performs according to IEC 61672-1:2014 Class 1, the highest class of precision for sound level measurement instruments. This makes it suitable for regulatory-grade acoustic evidence.
IEC 61672-1:2014 is the international standard for sound level meters. Class 1 is the highest precision grade, defining strict tolerances for measurement accuracy across a wide frequency range. Instruments certified to this standard are accepted for regulatory compliance, legal evidence, and official environmental monitoring, making Class 1 the benchmark for professional noise measurement worldwide.
The RANOS ONE measures LAFast, LASlow, LAeq, LAFmin, LAFmax, and their C-weighted equivalents (LCFast, LCSlow, LCeq, LCFmin, LCFmax). Additional measurement quantities and weightings are available via USB or upon request for specific use cases.
The RANOS ONE includes an integrated sealed lead acid battery (6V, 12Ah) and a solar panel (9.4Wh) for fully autonomous operation. It can also be powered via 24VDC (circular connector) or Charged with USB-C Power Delivery.
In some cases, the USB-C Power Delivery (PD) negotiation between the RANOS ONE and a laptop may fail, meaning no USB connection is established. If this happens, use the supplied USB-A to USB-C cable instead. This forces the connection to fall back to legacy 5V USB, which works reliably in all cases. Please note: USB should only be used for charging or data — do not power the RANOS ONE via USB while measuring, as Class 1 accuracy cannot be guaranteed in that case.
The RANOS ONE can be charged via USB-C Power Delivery. The power supply must support at least 20V / 1A. The cable must also support this specification and must not contain any integrated chips. Charging via USB is intended for when the unit is not measuring — do not power the RANOS ONE via USB during measurements, as Class 1 accuracy cannot be guaranteed. For continuous operation during measurements, use our external power supply.
No. While USB-C charging is fine when the unit is not in use, powering the RANOS ONE via USB during measurements means we cannot guarantee Class 1 accuracy. For continuous operation during measurements, we recommend our external power supply.
Yes. The unit is rated IP54 for outdoor use. The microphone carries an IP57 rating with a Gore membrane for advanced ingress and moisture protection. The windscreen is weather and UV resistant with a water-repellent coating and integrated birdspike.
Via LoRaWAN (Class A) — supporting EU868, US915, AU923, and other regional frequencies. LoRa keys are pre-provisioned for Over-The-Air-Activation (OTAA), so the device is ready to connect to your network straight out of the box. Local real-time readings are also available via USB-C and the DSS ConnectAPP.
Yes. The RANOS ONE is CE marked, meaning it meets all applicable European health, safety, and environmental requirements. This confirms the device is compliant with EU regulations and ready for deployment across the European market, relevant for cities, industry, and integrators who require documented product compliance as part of their procurement or installation process.
Yes. The RANOS ONE includes GPS for accurate timestamps and positioning — important for both multi-node deployments and legally defensible data records.
No. The RANOS ONE ships plug-and-play with a pre-installed full battery, pre-configured LoRa keys, and pole and wall mount accessories included.

SOFTWARE & DATA
Through the DSS ConnectAPP, a web application accessible via Google Chrome or Opera at app.dutchsensorsystems.com. It offers simple configuration options and live local readings.
DSS Dashboard+ is the native cloud platform for the RANOS ONE. It provides graphs, event-based alerts, reporting, and our Noise Budget Prediction feature, which helps construction sites, event organizers, and industrial operators stay within daily noise limits and avoid fines.
Yes. The RANOS ONE uses standard LoRaWAN, making it compatible with most LoRaWAN network servers and IoT platforms. Please contact us to discuss your specific integration requirements.

APPLICATIONS & USE CASES
Our solutions are used by municipalities and smart cities, construction companies, industrial operators, event organizers, environmental consultants, researchers, and IoT integrators and resellers.
Noise is increasingly recognized as a public health issue by the WHO, the European Environment Agency, and national governments. Regulatory requirements are tightening, while communities demand greater transparency. Continuous, calibrated monitoring is no longer optional — it's becoming standard practice.
The RANOS ONE combined with Dashboard+ is particularly well-suited for construction environments where daily noise limits must be respected and documented. Read more on the Construction Noise page.
Yes. The RANOS ONE is designed for scalable network deployment. Dense measurement networks improve data resolution and reduce the risk of out-of-context readings caused by weather or local conditions.
